“Hey, guys.” I said as I walked up to a couple other very bundled up men at 9:30, Saturday morning with my car saying it was 14 degrees. “You know, I bet it will be warmer in the sun once you get up the tower.”
“You wanna check?” Bruce responded.
“Ah, no. There’s things I know and there’s things I don’t know. I know I don’t have what it takes to climb a tower on a warm, summer day. I’ll be rooting Jeff on from right here on the ground.”
“It would have been nice if you could have ‘planned’ this for April.”
And so it began.
On a frigid Saturday morning, several of us hung out – one, literally – at the WITW tower on Lincolnway to repair a broken STL cable. God bless the people, and Jeff specifically, who have comfort scaling a tower at anytime let alone when the temps are in the low teens and the wind chill pushes the “feels like” temp to near zero. But that was what was necessary to get us back on the air. After the wind blew the cables loose from the tower, the STL (microwave link between the studio and transmitter) cable broke away from its receiving dish. Fortunately, Bruce at Bartronics in Chesterton has a guy for that. After a couple hours of scaling, tying down, soldering and reconnecting (and some hot coffee), we flipped the switches and viola’ – Christmas music once again sprung forth from out little transmitter.
We’ll continue to tweak the mix between now and Christmas, but we are playing a unique blend of contemporary, country, gospel, standards and instrumental Christmas music. We’ll be adding a few more to the list before the big day. In addition, we are looking at making some changes for after the Christmas music to ‘tune-up’ our Contemporary Christian format.

Have a Merry Christmas.
